Sounds like the best place on the planet to write and reflect with out the normal electricity stimulations around … sounds blissful and you brought to life in a beautiful way. I’m still there inside! It’s breathtaking!
It is a very special place. And I so appreciate your receiving the intention of my having written this particular post.
When we find that mirror of that breathtaking part inside of us, we are all good, aren't we?
I neglected to say on my post that I did write a book of poetry at Isle Royale, in 2019, called Crossing Thjresholds, Island Reflections, and for further immersion, you might take a look at it on Amazon. I didn't write th poems for publishing, I wrote the poems to guide me through a threshold crossing I needed to make with my daughter. And the poems came through as teachers. Perhaps that will be my next Blog.
“Teachings from nature are everywhere, if we but listen.”
Amba - I’ve been “off the grid” for three days fishing in central Oregon. I read this beautiful essay tonight and it is a perfect reflection of how powerful nature is.
I also reflect on how the word nature is used to describe the essential element of ourselves. Our nature. Human nature.
It’s not just outside of us, but inside of us too.
I’ve been neglecting my inner voice. From phones, tv’s, and computers. What technology has give us has also taken away - the silence. It takes action to be in quietness, to be free from the clutter of the busyness of life. Take time to come back into the now. The gift is immeasurable. Thank you, Amba.
And before action, it takes commitment. I means CREATING a commitment....otherwise is just doesn't happen. Like establishing practices, and daily practice to "drop down deep" -- one of the names of one of my poems. And to m one our bodies into those places in nature that give us access to our internal silence.
I did write a book which I didn't mention on my Substack, called Crossing Thresholds, island Reflections., in 2019, poems written at Isle Royale, which you might enjoy. Poems that come from my Muse, who speaks to me in poetic language and guides my life when I am silent.
What a beautiful gift. I am so happy you and Don have built this family treasure into your life. I am grateful that you brought it to life for me. Hell ya, I want to go! All my love - Rich.
